How to celebrate VE Day with a stay at home street party
While we can’t have the celebrations that many of us planned to mark VE Day, there are still lots of ways to celebrate that won’t break social distancing rules.
The early May bank holiday has been moved to the 8th of May this year to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.
Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, many commemorative events planned for the weekend have had to be cancelled.
What can we do instead?
A social media campaign across the country has called for us to decorate our houses in red white and blue, and hold a ‘stay at home’ street party to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
Families from the same household are being encouraged to have a ‘stay at home’ street party. So get the bunting out, and fly your flags.
Perhaps you could come up with a menu of foods that you would have had available in 1945 or maybe have a barbecue, but just remember to raise a glass to toast the heroes of the war at 3pm.
Have you a celebration planned to mark VE 75? Let us know, and we would love to see your pictures. Email photos of your flags, bunting and your celebrations to info@brookinternational.com.
