Buyers of soft signage / retail graphics today are looking for value added graphics as eye-catching alternatives to the traditional media of yesterday such as PVC, vinyl and paper. In many respects they add a new dimension to retail graphics, as they are easy to install and take down, cost effective, recyclable and enable stores to differentiate themselves from their competitors in an ever increasingly competitive retail market.
When visiting many retail outlets today stunning examples can be seen. Only a few years ago there was limited evidence of soft signage but that has dramatically changed today and continues to grow. The advantages are now recognised by those buying and selling soft signage / retail graphics. Whether in the fashion arena or automotive sectors, cosmetics or toys, furniture and furnishings sectors examples are now commonplace as retailers in particular embrace this new age.
Companies investing in the technology allowing them to take one giant leap for digital print, are reaping the rewards with their retail clients and customers who now demand soft signage / retail fabric solutions for their graphics. The vital combination of printing technology and advances in fabrics, and the technical finishing of fabrics, makes all of this possible. Many different effects are achievable depending on the type of graphics needed to convey a particular message by choosing the right fabric.
When using fabrics for soft signage / retail graphics it’s important to ensure they satisfy local fire standards. As a guide fabrics for graphics used in public places should conform to the requirements of BS5867: Part 2 giving a classification of Type B. This should ensure that local fire officers are satisfied that the fabric in its end use installation poses little or no risk. Should the highest possible standard be required – BS476 Class 0 – then Brook International can offer Fibreglass.
The following table shows all the fabrics that fall in to the category of fabrics suitable for soft signage / retail graphics. Many of the fabrics are available in a choice of finishes including pure, Brook-7, Flame Retardant (FR) and Brook-7 FR. Some products are only available as a FR option and are identified as such. Certain fabrics can also be FR treated to order, please enquire. Where weights are given this is for guidance only.
